The Department of Tourism of the State of São Paulo was founded on 1 January 2011, by decree No. 56635, and is organized by decree No. 56.635/2011.

Our role is to promote tourism as an economic activity in a strategic way, contributing to employment generation, income and development throughout the state. Another roles:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate policies for the promotion of tourism;

  • Formulate guidelines for the development of actions that promote tourism in the State;

  • Support other institutions, private or not, to create policies that enhance tourism;

  • Spread the tourist attractions around the State of São Paulo, within and outside the country;

  • Organize a permanent inventory of the tourism potential of the state;

  • Encourage the establishment of schools and courses designed to train professionals for the exercise of activities related to tourism;

  • Prepare the State's tourism calendar.

Its structure also involves the Department for Development Support of Seaside Resorts (Dade), the State Council of Tourism, the Regional Council of Tourism, and the Paulista Company of Events and Tourism S/A, also known as TUR.SP.
