São Vicente - Founded in January 22, 1532 by Martim Afonso de Souza, its name honors São Vicente, who died on the same day in Spain. He was persecuted, tortured and killed at the behest of emperor Diocletian in Rome. The tenacity of its people and the mystique of being the first city in Brazil have made São Vicente strong to face the following centuries, keeping a prominent place in the context of the state and the nation.
