Bertioga - There are two versions for the city's name: from parati-oco (home of the mullet) or buriquioca (buriqui = monkey and oca = home), address. This area consisted of an important strategic defense and guard point from the natural path of ‘tamoios’ and French. For a period, Bertioga’s olive oil contributed to the enlightenment of Santos, São Vicente, São Paulo, São Sebastião and partly also of Rio de Janeiro.

Tourist attractions: Aldeia Rio Silveira (village), usina de Itatinga (plant, mill), Forte de São João (fortress), beaches and Garganta do Gigante trail.

Belongs to the Costa da Mata Atlântica circuit..
