Capivari - From the Tupi "capivar-y", the local river of the capybara. In 1628, Capivari figured for the first time in cartographic documents of São Paulo. Founded by persecuted politicians who wanted the country free from Portuguese rule. Since 1832, economic development began at Vila Capivary, predominantly agricultural, with the cultivation of sugar cane, cereals, cotton, tea and coffee, products that allowed the formation of farms, the development of commerce and, later, industry.
Belongs to the Caminho do Sol circuit.
